Prayer After Sacrifice
It is mustahabb to pray two rak'ahs after slaughtering the qurbani or having it slaughtered by someone else.
The Prophet (SAW) said in his Hadiths.
‘When you slaughter your sacrifice, put down the knife in your hand. Then pray two rak'ahs. Whoever among the Muslims performs these two rak'ahs of prayer and asks Allahu ta'âlâ for something, Allahu ta'âlâ will surely give that person what he asks for.’
After the Fatiha in the first rak'ah, Surah al-Kawsar (‘Inna a'tayna’) is recited, and in the second rak'ah Surah al-Ikhlas (‘Kul huwallahu ehad’) is recited.
After this prayer
‘Allâhumma hâze'l-kabshu, (ev hâze'l-bakaru, ev hâze'l-ma'zü) minke wa lke wa ileyke. Fetekabbel minnî bilutfike ve keramike kemâ tekabbelte min Ibrâhîme Halîlike and Ismâîle Zebîhıke and Muhammadin Habîbike bifazlike and jûdike ve keramike Yâ Ekrame'l-Ekramin’
The prayer is recited and prayed for religious and worldly needs.
(If it is a ram, the prayer starts with ‘Allâhumma hâza'l-kebşu...’, if it is a cattle, ‘Allâhumma hâza'l-bakaru...’, if it is a goat, ‘Allâhumma hâza'l-ma'zü...’).
Meaning: ‘O Lord, this sheep (or cattle or goat or whatever is slaughtered) is from you, for you, to you. Accept it as you accepted it from your Khalil Ibrahim (a.s.) and your Zabih (sacrifice) Ismail (a.s.) and your Messenger Muhammad (s.a.w.) with your grace and mercy. With Your grace, kindness and favour, O most gracious of the gracious.
